Parents- A couple notes about the meet this weekend.
1 - The meet has been split into two meets, an AM and a PM meet by team. RICE will be swimming in the AM section of the meet both days. There will be no switching or changing of sessions by any team or swimmer.

2 - Our Warm Ups are the first warm ups at 8:05, swimmers will not be let into the fenced area until 8:00 am. I do advise arriving early enough to get a great set up area.

3 - Parents and Swimmers will sit outside of the fence along the West side of the pool. This is the tree covered area that goes to the Soccer fields. We will need any parent whom may have a pop up tent to bring these so we have a spot for our swimmers to sit under. We will be using./purchasing tents for the meet operations, timing, and have one at the FCST meet. If you can reply to me if you are bringing a tent so I can have a good idea of the numbers to expect. I would also recommend extra blankets, towels for swimmers to sit on as well. Pop up chairs tend to crowd up the area so we will leave those for parents mostly.

4 - Parents will be allowed into the pool for viewing through the fence adjacent to the pool and basketball courts. We are not allowing set up inside the perimeter of the fence but using this more for a viewing area. Parents can come in a few heats prior to their swimmers events and then exit after they have swam.

5 - All the swims will start from the end of the pool where the blocks are currently located. Timers will be behind these blocks for all 100,200 and 400 events. When it is time for the 50's the timers will walk to the diving board end of the pool to time these events.

6 - Coach Kyle and Carly will alternate days at our meet and the FCST meet. I am going to be working the computer areas through the meets so will try and get as many races in as possible. I am trying to round up some older swimmers to help assist through out the meet with swimmers getting to the blocks. The best option is to write on their hand their events and print out a timeline and event list. They need to check in with their coach at least 2 events prior to theirs.

7 - Its going to be sunny and hot so have stuff prepared for your swimmer. Water, Water, Water.

8 - There will be another set of swimmers/parents coming in as the morning meet is wrapping up. Please make sure to keep our area clean so its not a mess for them. Also Pop Ups in the seating area need to be picked up so the PM session can set up. Nothing can be left out overnight and be guaranteed to be there on Sunday.

9 - Reminder that for many this is the first glimpse into our team and our practice facility so lets leave them with a great impression. Just keep the smiles going that I see at practice everyday. If anyone approaches you with questions about things answer as best you can or direct them to someone who is working the meet.

See you at the pool,
Coach Jason

What is it? Over & Under is a new series following the Arizona State University Swimming & Diving Team and their journey to rebuild the legendary swim program after a series of state-wide budget cuts threatened the team’s very existence. Produced by Ontracc LLC, and presented by The Sun Devil Swimming Association, this web series follows a swim team from their first dryland practice of the season all the way through to the spring conference meet. It’s filmed like a reality show (but without the zany gimmicks) and provides a real world view of a swim team known for their perseverance.
Why is it so important? This series will give a broader audience access to the personal struggles college teams are faced with on a daily basis. Because the men’s team at ASU was officially cut and then officially reinstated – the program serves as an inspiration to college teams everywhere. By publicizing the story of their perseverance, Over & Under could lead the rally cry for the full spectrum of “non-revenue” sports fighting to stay afloat.
Where to watch. Watch previews from the first episode on Facebook beginning May 2010. ‘Like’ the page to receive the latest announcements about the series (facebook.com/overandunder).
