Texas and National Senior Games - All athletes that will be at least 50 years old by year-end 2010 – the Texas State Senior Games will be held in Houston, October 17-31.  Participating in these games may qualify you for the 2011 Summer National Senior Games (top 4 finishers in each event and others making the qualifying times in state games) – which will also be held in Houston.  As host state for the national games – Texas needs a strong representation.

These games are a lot of fun and for those of you that have talents outside of swimming there are many other sports that are included – archery, badminton, basketball, bowling, cycling, golf, racquetball, track & field softball, tennis and more.

I went to the National games in 2007 and it was fun.  It is less competitive than Masters Swimming Nationals – with more focus on having fun.

The entry deadline for the Texas State qualifying games is October 8, 2010.   You have to participate in the 2010 Texas Games to qualify for the 2011 National Games.   Event information can be found online atwww.texasstategames.com.  On the home page, under “Events” and “Schedule of Events” there is a link to the Registration booklet.

If you have any questions – please feel free to ask me about it – Bruce Williams.
